What distillery makes Gray Whale Gin?

Golden State Distillery

When was Golden State Distillery founded and where is it located?

Golden State Distillery is a small batch distillery founded by Marsh & Jan Mokhtari in 2016, located in Sonoma County, California. All of our spirits celebrate and support California. We craft our spirits out of locally sourced ingredients and we support organizations that make a positive impact on the environment.

Where does Gray Whale Gin source its ingredients?

We source all of our botanicals from organic farmers or we wild-forage ourselves. We support local farmers who grow the highest quality, non-GMO ingredients. We are proud to know our farmers on a first name basis.

Does Gray Whale contain nuts?

Almonds are used in the production process. Traces of almonds may remain in the finished product.

What kind of still do you use, and how does it influence what you make?

We use a copper pot still with twin columns. Our still allows us to create a neutral spirit at just over 95% ABV. This 6 times distilled neutral base is what gives Gray Whale Gin it’s ultra clean flavor profile. We then bypass our twin columns, add our botanicals and run a ‘one-shot’ last distillation. This is when the Gray Whale Gin is truly born.
